James Brown Drummers – Funk Drum Grooves Workshop

This class will explore the depths of James Brown’s voluminous history of chart topping hits, and the drummers that made them famous. From the course’s beginning to end the participant will learn the concepts of how to construct drum grooves from tunes like Limbo Jimbo to Cold Sweat to Mother Popcorn to The Funky Drummer. From Clayton Filial to Jabo Starks to Clyde Stubblefield, the groove masters, the new groove member will learn the structure and history of the tunes that put FUNK on the map and made America dance on its head from the late 50’s through the 90’s.

Dates: Wednesdays, July 8th – July 29th, 7:00pm-8:30pm
Cost: $100 per person (current SDS students get a discount, $80 per person)
