23 successful years as a professional musician into his teaching practice,
Steve Hill is a powerful and popular drum instructor in the Seattle
area. He has taught hundreds of students, several of which became the
new up and coming drummers in the Seattle area. Great with kids and
adults alike, Steve Hill can teach you what it takes to be an effective
recording and performing drummer.
A seasoned first-call studio musician, Steve has contributed to countless
albums, jingles and movie scores. You have probably heard Steve on hundreds
of television and radio ads, which range from McDonald's and Coca-Cola
to ABC/CBS Sports, Liz Claiborne, MSNBC, GTE and Ford.
Since early 1994, he has spent a lot of time playing to huge concert
and festival crowds, and millions on live television appearances. He
recorded and toured with one of Europe's top rock acts, Blind Fish for
Polygram Records which sold over two million units and placed four times
in EuroBillboard's top five singles acts.
An Emmy and Telly award-winning composer and producer of original music
for television and multi-media, Steve has collaborated with top producers
and songwriters in the industry: Terry Date (Soundgarden, Nirvana and
Fishbone); Jeff Lord-Alge (Steve Winwood, Earth, Wind & Fire); Ike
Stubblefield (Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Toni Braxton); Cookie Merenko
(Charlie Haden, Oregon, Tony Williams); Roby Duke (John Patitucci, Denise
Williams) and Paul Speer (Recording artist/producer with gold and platinum
credits for music and video).
Steve has performed and recorded with Dianne Schuur, Keb 'Mo, Larry
Coryell, Rob Mullins, Hollis Gentry, Chico Freeman, Phil Upchurch, Ernestine
Anderson, Turtle Island String Quartet, Nancy Rumbel, Jimmy Earl, Hubert
Tubbs, Bruce Conte (Tower of Power) and... Roger Clinton (yes~ the president's
brother).
Steve was musical director for Bo Diddley. He recorded and toured with
Carol Howell (producer of Los Lonely Boys). Steve was also in the Rich
Dangel Quartet, founder of "The Fabulous Wailers", who authored
"Louie Louie".
As an endorser and clinician for Garcia drums, Sabian
Cymbals, Attack Heads and Vater sticks, Steve has held clinics in several
states and continues to hold clinics in the Seattle area. He designed
several innovative master classes for drummers, including "Getting
the Ultimate Drum Sound", which outlined what it takes to play
in the studio, as well as the changing role of today's studio drummer.
