Drew Locke has been drumming since the age of ten. A Seattle native, he had become a regular on the cities rock circuit by fifteen and has since studied with some of the local elite, including Jason McGerr (Death Cab For Cutie), Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, the Wallflowers, Kanye West, etc.) and Steve Smith (professional educator, clinician), having completed Steve's inaugural year long certification course for drummers at the Seattle Drum School in 2006. In 2010, Drew traveled to the Drummers Collective in New York City where, among other notable and inspiring faculty educators, he found much to learn from Peter Retzlaff (Kenny Werner, Maynard Ferguson, the BMI Big Band) and Brazilian drumming great, Adriano Santos . Since his formative years, Drew's passion for music and endless pursuit for mastery of his instrument has led to the contribution of his playing on projects spanning rock, jazz, hip-hop, Brazilian, reggae, funk and more on both live stages and in the studio. From the other side of the glass, Drew found his start by watching engineers while he played in studios through his teen years. After High School, he pursued the craft, enrolling in Shoreline Community College's associates program for recording engineering and music performance. Before completing the degree however, Drew left to go open and manage the Seattle Drum School's recording capable performance venue called "the LAB" and engineer out of two other studios there. Since its opening in 2004, as producer, recording, mixing or mastering engineer, Drew has worked with a wide array of talent including Matt Cameron's (Pearl Jam) solo project dubbed Harrybu McCage, pianist/songwriter Dawn Clement , Cornish College's renowned Jim Knapp Orchestra , and countless "Live at the LAB" recordings including such artists as Smoosh, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head and the Fleet Foxes. Today, he maintains a teaching practice at both Seattle Drum School locations and continues engineering there.
